Treasurer

I started off as a volunteer during my freshman year of college and after seeing the impact this organization had, I spent the next three years helping organize and grow our events at Iowa. Recognizing youth (particularly black girls) in the Midwest might see a lack of diversity and representation in the STEAM field, BGDS has been monumental in exposing underrepresented girls to the area and showing them they too belong here with the many other successful women of color they may not see every day. Seeing them smile during our events and knowing that I’m helping others, like my own younger sisters, is all I could ask for to keep me going! I look forward to expanding beyond Iowa and growing our reach!
